We are an enthusiastic group of Keswickian parents who have just received a helping hand to get a very special project off the ground.

Keswick BIDs have awarded us enough money to secure the printing for the first edition of a book that is sure to be a bestseller with both local and visiting families.

Known as ‘Kids Keswick’, the book was the idea of town cryer Bob Bryden: “This handy book features the very best activities for families in and around the Keswick area. What makes this book so special is that every single activity has been tried and tested by local children and their parents and the book will be the end result” – as Bob says “...written for parents by parents.”

Together with local mum, Heidi Stafford and mother of seven, Jeronime Palmer, he has managed to pique the interest of 50 local families who have all volunteered time and expertise to help test the activities, take the pictures, write the text, design the look and of course sell the books!

The group intends to donate any profits from the book sales to local family and young people’s projects. Inspired by a similar book from Cornwall, it is hoped that ‘Kids Keswick’ will be launched in March 2010 at the popular literature festival, Words by the Water held every year at Theatre by the Lake.
